Howl are you?

Hello all.

First of all, sorry for the silly title, I just couldn't resist. I was working on Sunday (I work in a shop that sells a bunch of cheap silly but cute things) and I had a little look through the basket of stuff that was broken and/or had been returned and I found the cutest little flowerpot! I realised that I could keep some of my makeup in it, and I just thought I'd show it to you.

It's a little owl! The only thing that's wrong with it is that it has a tiny little crack, but you can hardly see it. I'm keeping my eye makeup in it (liners, mascara, etc.).

On Saturday I popped into Topshop and bought a pair of sunglasses that I've wanted for a while. I broke my last pair (stepped on them, oops!) so I needed some new ones. I'm really pleased with them, they're quite big and have a flower pattern (which my mum insists aren't flowers, just blotches).

Closeup of the pattern

And here's a picture of me wearing them

It was my birthday yesterday (finally 18!) and I wasn't going to show you what I got (feels like bragging) but I thought I'd just show you what my brother and sister got me, 'cause it's makeup related.
I asked for the Reese Witherspoon perfume by Avon, because I'd been given a sample of it around Christmas and I really liked it.
And lo and behold, here's what I got

It's called In Bloom and I really like it. The bottle is made of glass but the top is plastic and shaped like a flower in bloom (hence the name)
It's quite floral, which is nice because I don't have anything like it. I have one perfume which is v. sweet (Vera Wang Princess) and one that is rather musky (don't remember what it's called and can't be bothered to look, sorry :) so it's nice to have one that is floral.
Here's the scent info:

Top Notes:
Georgia Peach Tea Leaves, Crisp Greens

Heart Notes:
Star Gardenia, Magical Magnolia, Night Blossoming Jasmine

Base Notes:
Cashmere Woods, Hypnotic Florals, Amber Wood Crystals

This means nothing to me if I'm honest, it does smell a bit peachy and there's another scent which must be Magnolia or Gardenia, but I don't think I've ever smelled either of those, so I can't be sure.
I like it anyway and will probably wear it loads. I got the 50ml bottle in case you're interested.

What perfume will you be wearing this summer?

Review: TBS Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream

Hello all.

I've just about finished TBS's Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream and so I thought I'd quickly review it for you.

I purchased this back in January as my skin was feeling a bit dry due to the (then) cold weather.

Here's what the website says about the product:

A luxurious, silky moisturiser formulated especially for dry skin. Locks-in moisture to provide long-lasting hydration and protection. Helps to restore the skin’s natural moisture barrier with regular use. Skin is left feeling silky smooth, comforted and well protected.

You get 50ml for £10.00 and my pot has lasted me since January, so for about four months.
The cream itself is light pink and has a faint smell, I don't know exactly what it is but all the products in the Vitamin E line have the smell. I think it's fine, I don't think anyone could really hate it, or maybe they could, I don't know.
There is an extra lid under the actual lid, so that if the pot is stored upside down, or on its side (during travel for instance) the cream won't get all over the inside of the lid and cause a mess. Personally I wish that it came in a pump like some of the serums do, as it is more hygienic, but that's not a major flaw.

Since January I have applied this cream all over my face before bed. Sometimes I would apply it again in the morning, but only if my skin was really dry as it does get quite oily during the day. Over the past month or so, however I have only applied it over certain parts of my face (around hairline mostly) and then I used my day cream on the rest of my face (review coming up).
The cream sinks in well and my skin did not feel greasy in the morning.

The cream lived up to it's expectations and claims, so I'm satisfied, though I don't think I will repurchase it as soon as it runs out as I won't need it as much during the summer. I might however buy it again later this year.

Midnight Sun

Hello all.

I seem to be doing a lot more with my eyemakeup lately...probably because I'm cooped up in my room all day studying and all the pretty eyeshadows on my vanity are v. tempting. :) So, abandoning my history books I sat myself in front of my mirror and played around for a bit.

Admittedly this look is not completely original, as I had just watched Allthatglitters21's newest tutorial and I realised that I had two of the eyeshadows she used, and two others that were quite similar.

So she gets all credit for it, this is just my version. :)

Without further ado, here is my look.

I've named it Midnight Sun, because it's almost summer (Well, technically it already is in Iceland, but the weather does not seem to agree) and soon the sun will be staying up longer. :)

Products used
Gosh Eye shadow base
MAC All That Glitters (inner corner)
MAC Amber Lights (centre of lid and lower lashline)
MAC Falling Star (outer corner and lower lashline)
MAC Sable (blended into crease)
Gosh Let's twist eye liner in Carbon black
Maybelline Colossal mascara (I couldn't be bothered to reapply it so it's just left over from this morning)

I'm so glad to have found yet another way to wear Falling Star as I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to use it again, as it's too red to use all over the lid, or over large areas, but I think it goes rather well with this look.

Also, I've run out of liquid liner. Liquid liner is probably on of my all time favourite products and I can't live without it but I haven't been to any makeup selling places recently. :( I don't feel "ready" unless I have liquid liner on my upper lashline and my grey liner on the lower lashline. So I've been having to use a pencil liner instead...it's ok I guess but not the same.
I sound awfully vain, don't I? haha

Anyway, on to other things. I took my final exam in Danish, so now I never have to speak or learn Danish ever again! Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against the language or country (they are to thank for Gosh) but I really did not like studying it. I didn't do quite as well as I had hoped, but I did all right.

I also got a Twitter. No idea why I decided to do it now, I did have on a while ago but I deleted it as I never updated it and didn't really get the point. But now I have it. I added a thingy to the sidebar so you can see my latest updates and follow me (if you like :).

I have a cold. :( I'm not quite sure whether it's allergies (hay fever) or just a cold, but it was a day too late! I wanted to have a cold yesterday for my oral Danish test, as it would make my accent sound better. Oh well, clearly my body took a long time to respond.

I'm going to stop rambling now.

Hope you're all well. :) If you do your own version of this look, using other products (or even the same ones) please leave a link in the comments, I'd love to see it. :)

Oh! By the way I'm really looking forward to entering Mizz Worthy and Illamasqua's Elementals contest, I can't wait to get started on my look!

Ok, I'm done now. :)

Lilac & Lavender inspired eyes

Hello all.

Last night I watched a tutorial by the lovely Natalya, a.k.a. Filthygorgeousmakeup (whose Cleopatra makeup tutorial was the first tutorial I ever watched!). She made a green and lilac eyeshadow look which is really lovely, and I knew it would go wonderfully with the outfit I was planning to wear the next day (today).

Sadly I did not have any of the makeup items she used, but that did not stop me! I feel that with many gurus out there, (Natalya especially) they make looks that can be achieved using any products you happen to own, providing that they are the right colour. So I had a look through my collection and found the products I needed.

Click here to see her look

Here's my version

Products used

Gosh eye shadow base
Gosh Quattro eye shadow, Q 47 Tropical beach (the light green on lid and a bit of the darker green in the crease)
Artdeco eye shadow, number 90 (wet, on lower lashline)
Gosh Let's twist eyeliner, Carbon black (upper lashline)
Gosh Velvet touch eyeliner, Hypnotic grey (a little on the lower lashline)
Maybelline Colossal mascara

I did nothing different on the rest of my face, so I won't bother posting that, or even a picture because my fringe is too long and needs a trim. :)

I really like this look, it's summery and pretty though if I do it again I'm going to apply the green shadow wet, as it would make it more vibrant.

Hope you're all having a good Monday, I had an oral Danish test today and have another Danish test tomorrow, then history on Friday. If you ever think that something interesting might have happened in Iceland during the 16th century, you're wrong. :)
